Ticketoo

Software Engineer — Backend

Rome · Hybrid

You'll help make Ticketoo the most trusted secondary ticketing platform in Europe, and take ground away from touts one verified ticket at a time.

Apply now

An honest alternative to touting, born in Rome in 2022.

Ticketoo is a fan-to-fan marketplace to buy and sell tickets for concerts, sports, theatre and clubs. The rule is simple and non-negotiable: the resale price can never exceed the ticket's face value, and every ticket is verified before it changes hands. No mark-ups, no ghost tickets.

Born from an idea at university, today we're a small team that moves fast, backed by investors such as Innova Venture and Digital Magics — and we keep growing together with the people we bring on board.

Andrea has led engineering at Ticketoo since day one: he wrote the platform's first lines of code and still writes code every week, alongside the team. You'll work closely with him — no middle layers, no processes slowing down a technical decision.

In a team of 10 people, ownership is real: the features you propose reach production, the bugs you find are yours to fix, and architecture choices are discussed together, not inherited from a document someone else wrote last year.

What you'll work on

  • API & backend:

design, build and optimise the REST APIs that power searches, purchases and sales for hundreds of thousands of fans.
  • Database & data layer:

model and manage data on relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB/BigQuery), optimising schemas, queries and performance.
  • Ticket verification and anti-fraud:

contribute to the systems — AI-based ones too — that stop a fake or duplicate ticket from ever reaching a fan.
  • Cloud & DevOps:

deploy and manage environments on AWS/GCP, with Docker, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu).
  • Performance & scalability:

find bottlenecks and handle the real, not simulated, peaks of on-sale openings and high-demand drops.
  • End-to-end:

follow every feature from idea to deploy, side by side with Andrea (CTO) and the rest of the team.

What we're looking for

  • 2–4 years of experience:

in backend development, with solid foundations in Python and Django — FastAPI is a plus too.
  • Relational and non-relational databases:

PostgreSQL and MongoDB, plus familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows.
  • Cloud and deploy:

AWS or GCP, with hands-on experience of Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Security and reliability:

here every bug touches a real payment, or a real fan's real ticket.
  • End-to-end mindset:

autonomy, ownership, a feature taken from idea to deploy.
  • Nice to have:

IaC (Terraform/OpenTofu), data pipelines and BigQuery, experience in startups or high-traffic marketplaces, a passion for concerts, sports or live events.
